COUNTRY SITUATION:

Nepal is a beautiful country of Asia. Compared to its giant northern and southern neighbors (China and India) it is a small country with over 25 million population and comprising over one hundred Indo-Aryan and 59 Tibeto-Burman ethnic groups and over 92 speech languages. The country is very reach in cultural heritage, ethnic diversity and natural resources. Eight out of ten world's tallest peaks exceeding height of 8000 meters lie in this country and Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world has made Nepal known all over the world. But on the other side, the poverty scenario of the country is quite discouraging.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. Its per capita income of $260 remains one of the lowest in the world. The rural population of the country is 86% mostly depends on subsistence level agriculture, among them 17 % are the poorest among poor. More than 75% of the labor force is engaged in agriculture (2001), the agriculture sector does not produce more than 40% of the GDP and the manufacturing sector does not employ more than 2% of the population. Likewise top 5% of the people control over 40% of land and the bottom 60% has control on 20% of land only.

MISSION:
1. Promotion of potentialities of disadvantaged groups (DAG) towards their human development
2. Promotion of equitable access to resources and economic opportunities for poor
3. Promotion of Pro People Governance


GOAL:
1.1 Empowerment of disadvantage Groups (DAG) to enhance their human development potentialities
1.2 Creation of congenial environment for the promotion of human development of DAG

2.1 Enhance access to economic opportunities with Poor including DAG
2.2 Enhance productive utilization of resources among poor including DAG

3.1 Enhancement of Conflict Transformation Practices
3.2 Promotion of Accountable System in Governance

DAG:
Women, dalit, ethinic minorities and madhesies (Madheses as a political marginalized, their issues are address as indigenous population)
