A socio-economic stratification and a mechanism of hierarchy as symbols of social status have been institutionalized in the country. Consequently, the social relations with the poor, women, ethnic groups, Marginalized terai Madhise and Dalits have been discriminated and isolated. As a result they have been economically, socially and politically excluded despite the constitutional rights of equality

The Digo Samajik Bikas Kendra (Center for Sustainable Social Development) also known as CSSD is a non-profit, non-government organization, which was established with the vision of creating a sustainable just society. Recognizing the existence of extreme social discrimination, mass poverty and the conflict situation of the region it was decided to establish a regional organization for social, political and economic empowerment of the disadvantaged groups (DAGs). The view is that a regional organization can better serve and address the regional issues in a more integrated manner with effective interventions for sustainable social development

Misssion

Promotion of Good Governance for inclusion of DAG in Socio-economic Process

Goal

  • Enhance inclusion of DAGs in decision-making process
  • Enhance socio-economic transformation of DAG

Objectives

  • To promote culture of good governance at community as well as at societal level.
  • To strengthen DAG for facilitating advocacy and lobbying on their common governance issues.
  • To enhance capacity of DAGs and poor to plan and manage self perpetuating socio-economic development process at local level
  • To help DAGs and poor promote micro enterprises based on mainly local resources

Working Areas

Mid-western Development Region:
Programs are concentrated in Banke, Bardia, Surkhet, Dang, Pyuthan , Rolpa, Kalikot, Humla, Dolpa and Mugu of Midwestern region.

    • Establishment of linkage with like-minded organization. – GO, NGO
    • Promotion of Forum for sustainable social development

  • Increased Participation/representation of DAG in Organization and program activities.
  • Small scale income generating programs to promote self employment process initiated by DAG.
